ABOUT THE TEAM

The Florida State University Ice Hockey Club was established in 1997. We are part of the Collegiate Hockey Federation (CHF) D2 program and play teams all over the southeastern United States. In the beginning, the ‘Noles used to practice and play games out of the Civic Center; however, when the ECHL Tiger Sharks left the city of Tallahassee, the ‘Noles had to find a new home. We have bounced around from Jacksonville, Orlando, and back to Jacksonville. Since 2011, we have called Columbus, GA – home of the ECHL Columbus Cottonmouths – our home rink. Despite the fact that our home ice is a three-hour drive, we are still able to recruit talented players who are committed to representing FSU to the best of their ability.

In the past, we’ve traveled to Georgia Tech, University of Florida, University of Alabama, University of Mississippi, University of Miami, and many more. Every year, we participate in the Savannah Hockey Classic; a four-team tournament advertised city wide, held in the 9,600-seat Savannah Civic Center. The trip to Savannah, GA is the most anticipated event on our 18-20 game schedule and is always a great experience for the players and their families. In 2010, the Ice Hockey Club was named ‘Sports Club of the Year’ and chosen as the prestigious ‘Vires Award’ winner, which recognizes the student organization that most exemplifies determination and perseverance during the year at the annual Leadership Awards Banquet at FSU.

Our players are the epitome of determination and commitment. Our players come out three days a week for off-ice conditioning and spend their weekends traveling anywhere between three and eight hours to play a game later that night and the next day. When they get on the ice, they do so with a sort of excitement that the sport of hockey brings out. We love the game of hockey and what it brings to our lives. A great bond is created between school and sport, and the friendships cultivated during the season are long lasting.

We hope to further represent the principles we have learned at Florida State University and continue to deliver the message of excellence in every city we visit. If you are interested in our program or would like to find ways to help grow our team, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Go Noles!
